NCB 0-4-0 saddle tank

At the SRPS 50th Anniversary Gala weekend in August 2011, this locomotive was the station pilot and behaved impecably at the hands of Chris Lothian. 6 Mk1 coaches? Nae problem! 3 teak coaches (the 2 Thompson vehicles with Gresley buffet 644 in the middle? Nae problem. This wee gem shoved everything round with amazing power and ease. An absolutely cracking wee engine!

No. 6 was built by Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock as no. 2219 in 1946 and belongs to the Prestongrange Industrial Museum. It was overhauled at Bo'ness and is due to stay there until 2012 until the track at Prestongrange is ready. To read all about the Prestongrange site, click here
