We are pleased to report that the exterior painting of 731 in G&SWR maroon has now been completed: this also includes the picking out of all the mouldngs in black. Lining in gold and lettering also in gold is scheduled for next spring, as it is now getting too cold for external painting.

Top coating began with the corridor side and then No 1 end: the compartment side with its many mouldings took a little longer and we finished in early November with No 2 end. Also, the lettering of all the compartment doors with the class and vehicle numbers is now complete. At this point, we shall move inside the vehicle to work again on the compartments and the corridor. Many thanks to Peter and to Jim for all their help to this stage.
